Infrastructure Manager
Over deze vacature
ABOUT OLIX AI is growing faster than any technology in history and the explosion in demand has created a massive infrastructure gap; we can no longer build chips or power stations fast enough to keep up. The industry is still leaning on a ten-year-old hardware blueprint that has reached its limit. A new paradigm that is faster and more efficient will be the biggest economic opportunity of the next century and create the most important company of the next decade. The OLIX Decode Accelerator 1 (DX-1) is the first accelerator architected specifically for decode. Rack-scale co-design of logic, data movement, packaging, optics and interconnect enables a step change in system level performance. THE ROLE We are looking for an Infrastructure Manager to lead and grow the team responsible for the internal platform our entire organization depends on. You will own the cloud and on-prem compute, storage, networking, and CI/CD systems that our hardware, software, photonics, and compiler engineers use to build, test, and collaborate daily. You will join as the team takes shape, with engineers already in place in London and hiring under way in Austin. This is a high-ownership role with the freedom to define our internal infrastructure strategy, standards, and roadmap. You will guide the team to transform slow, manual workflows into fast, reproducible, and genuinely secure systems, working closely with our IT & Security team, who own identity, devices, and corporate security. If you care equally about maximizing engineering velocity, establishing best-in-class security, and building a highly capable technical team, there is a massive amount of impactful work to dig into here. RESPONSIBILITIES Day to day, you will guide your team and manage the strategic execution of our internal engineering platform. This is a mix of strategic alignment, architectural guidance, and team enablement focused on: - Team Leadership & Delivery: Lead, mentor, and grow the team across London and Austin, and direct it in building infrastructure-as-code, provisioning automation, CI/CD pipelines, network design, and observability systems across our AWS and on-prem environments. - Isolation, Access & Cost: Give each engineering group (chip design and EDA, compiler and agentic workloads, simulation) an environment that is isolated, scales independently, and has clear cost attribution, with sensitive design data protected to the standard our foundry partners and export obligations require. - Operational Support & Reliability: Ensure your team effectively supports and unblocks engineers on complex build, compute, or connectivity issues, with clear support routes and solid incident response for everything the team runs. - Security Posture: Champion a secure-by-default mindset across infrastructure, building in least-privilege cloud IAM, secrets management, network segmentation, and audit logging. Work in partnership with IT & Security, who set company-wide policy and own identity, endpoints, and compliance. - Vendors & Partners: Manage the external partners that run or support parts of our environment, with clear scope, ownership, and outcomes. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with engineering leaders, with chip design and compiler engineering as early and demanding customers, and with the team designing the infrastructure inside our products, to ensure the engineering platform and the broader company environment remain highly coherent and efficient. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - Team Leadership & Management: Proven track record of managing, mentoring, and scaling high-performing infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering teams. You know how to align technical execution with overarching company goals. - Deep Technical Foundation: A strong background as an engineer or architect in AWS and hybrid on-prem infrastructure, storage, and networking. You don't need to write every line of code, but you must be able to hold your own in architectural discussions and guide technical decisions. - Developer Productivity & CI/CD: Experience overseeing the design and operation of robust build systems and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with the unique infrastructure demands of chip design (EDA), compiler, or HPC-style workloads is a significant plus. - Infrastructure Security: Deep understanding of cloud and infrastructure security: IAM and least-privilege design, account and network isolation, secrets management, and logging. You instinctively build environments that are secure by default without destroying engineering velocity, and you work well alongside a dedicated security function. - Cloud Cost & Governance: Experience bringing cloud spend and access under control at a growing company, through tagging, cost attribution, budgets, and access reviews that teams follow. - Builder Mentality: Experience thriving in an early-stage company that scaled fast, ideally from tens to hundreds of people. You are comfortable defining strategy, establishing processes, and building a platform from the ground up, and equally at home bringing order to an environment that grew quickly. - Cross-Functional Communication: Excellent ability to partner with diverse technical leaders across software, hardware, and IT & Security, translating complex operational bottlenecks into clear, executable infrastructure strategies. COMPENSATION & EQUITY - Competitive Salary: Commensurate with your experience, skills, and location - Equity & Ownership: Meaningful stock options. You’re not just joining the mission; you’re owning a piece of it - Proximity Bonus: We value your time. To minimise your commute and maximise your life, we offer an annual Living-Local Bonus if your residence is within 20 minutes of the office - Retirement Benefits: Employer-contributed retirement plans to help you build long-term financial security Due to U.S. export control regulations, candidates’ eligibility to work at OLIX depends on their most recent citizenship or permanent residency status. We are generally unable to consider applicants whose most recent citizenship or permanent residence is in certain restricted countries (currently including Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, Russia, Belarus, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Venezuela). Applicants who have subsequently obtained citizenship or permanent residency in another country not subject to these restrictions may still be eligible.
